Since 2001, The Rock Boat has reinvented the music festival and has torn down the walls between artist and fan by hitting the high seas for full music festival cruise vacations. The Rock Boat and host band Sister Hazel have sailed the Caribbean with names like Zac Brown Band, Matt Nathanson, Brandi Carlile, Collective Soul, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Plain White T’s, Barenaked Ladies, NEEDTOBREATHE, Will Hoge, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, Ben Rector, Better Than Ezra, Gavin Degraw, Bronze Radio Return, The Alternate Routes, Blackberry Smoke, Marc Broussard and so many more. The Rock Boat community continues to enjoy non-stop music, fun theme nights, unlimited soft serve, and treats the festival more as a family reunion rather than a festival.

“It would be impossible to overstate the pride, love, and gratitude we have for “The Rock Boat”. Everything that it’s meant to us as musicians, artists, community builders, and as a creative team goes way beyond words. It’s a huge part of our identity. But more than anything, we’re extremely proud of the positive ripple effect it has had on so many talented artists – and in the lives of so many amazing fans and music lovers from around the world. It’s the signature event of our 25 year career and will be one hell of a legacy. And the beauty of it is that it’s about everyone who has ever been even a small part of the first 19 Rock Boats.  Whether you’ve been an artist, a fan, or a Sixthman team member – It’s always been about the sum of the parts.  It’s about equal parts music, people, and relationships.  When we got off of the first cruise – we all knew we were on to something special. And it’s been life changing – for countless people. And as we get ready to celebrate 20 years of Rock Boats – it’s so exciting to see it cruising along as healthy and energized as ever.  Long live TRB!” – Ken Block, Sister Hazel

The birth of The Rock Boat, and eventual creation of the music festival production behemoth Sixthman, is credited to Sister Hazel’s own manager Andy Levine. Sister Hazel’s fans, the “Hazelnuts”, suggested a weekend to hang with the band. Soon after, a chance encounter on a plane with a travel agent led Levine to suggest a cruise instead of a regular festival. Sister Hazel loved the idea, so Levine set the wheels in motion. He soon saw an opportunity to create a business around connecting artists and their fans for vacations.

“We started the Rock Boat to say thanks to the fans that had provided the wind in Sister Hazel’s sails.  We realized soon after we pulled away from shore that we had stumbled into something much bigger.  It was a reunion of people who thought they were strangers but were actually friends.  Our main responsibility over the last 20 years has been to harness the kinship of the guest and artist community with the intention of making it feel like family.” – Andy Levine, Chairman and Founder

From its first cruise in 2001 to expanding to resort festivals in 2019, Sixthman has continued to grow at a rapid rate. Sixthman now operates cruise festivals out of New Orleans, Louisiana, Miami and Tampa, Florida, and Barcelona, Spain and resort festivals in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Stars like Jon Bon Jovi, KISS, 311, Kid Rock, John Mayer, Diplo, Lynyrd Skinner, Bobby Bare, Skrillex, Lucinda Williams, Barenaked Ladies, Chris Jericho, Alex Trebek, Debbie Reynolds, Brantley Gilbert, The Mavericks, Kesha, Brandi Carlile, John Prine, Florida Georgia Line, Paramore, Kasey Musgraves, Joe Bonamassa, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Train, Jason Isbell, The Impractical Jokers, Lyle Lovett, Peter Frampton, Jillian Michaels, Mickey Rooney and dozens more have vacationed with Sixthman.

“As we near the 20th anniversary of The Rock Boat, the event that pioneered the Music Festival at Sea concept, passion for the idea of fans and bands together on vacation has never been stronger. We feel so fortunate to have grown to be able to serve guests memories that last a lifetime on 18 events this year in the Caribbean and Mediterranean at sea and at exotic Resorts in the Dominican Republic. I don’t think anyone could have dreamed up just how special these experiences would grow to be when those first Hazelnuts set sail together back in 2001!” – Anthony Diaz, CEO
